How do I get help?
You are welcome to come in for a no-cost assessment by one of our trained mental health professionals at the Ingalls Memorial Hospital location or through the Emergency Department at the Silver Cross Hospital location. Assessment and referral is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The assessment and referral staff will evaluate the needs of the individual and make referrals based on those needs. Individuals may be referred to a variety of settings, including, but not limited to: individual therapy, family therapy, medication management, partial hospitalization program, group therapy, and inpatient hospitalization.
How much does an assessment cost?
Assessments are provided free of charge.
Do I need to make an appointment?
No. Walk-ins are welcome. The assessment and referral department at Ingalls Memorial Hospital is located on the first floor of Ingalls Memorial Hospital near Emergency Services. If you are interested in making an appointment, please call us at 708-915-6411 to speak with one of our assessment and referral specialists. Services can be accessed through the Emergency Department at the Silver Cross Hospital location.
How long will the assessment take?
Most assessments take about an hour.
What should I bring?
Please bring a list of all current medications, dosages, and times. If you have insurance, please bring your insurance card. If you believe that you or your child may be admitted into the hospital, bring clothing appropriate for three days.
What insurance is accepted?
We have agreements with a large number of private insurance companies and managed care companies. Medicare and Medicaid are also accepted.
What behavioral health services are currently being offered at your sites?
Our Ingalls Memorial Hospital location offers adolescent inpatient, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and group therapy programs, adult inpatient, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs and an older adult inpatient treatment program.
Our Silver Cross Hospital location offers Inpatient, Partial Hospitalization and Chemical Dependency Services Programming as well as DUI Services for adults ages 18 and older.
What does a typical day look like?
Our partial hospitalization program and our inpatient programs are highly structured and therapeutic. Individuals attend several groups throughout the day. Groups consist of verbal process therapy, expressive therapies (art and movement), recreational therapy, skills building, and psycho-educational components. The adolescents also have an educational component. Each patient is also assigned to a therapist and a psychiatrist, both of which will meet with the patient throughout their stay.
How long is the average hospital stay?
Each patient has an individualized treatment plan and length of stay is determined on a case-by-case basis by the psychiatrist assigned.
Will my family be allowed to be involved in my treatment?
Yes, with consent from the patient. Family therapy sessions are highly encouraged. Visiting hours vary by unit, but are offered several times per week.
Will there be recommendations put in place following discharge?
Discharge planning is an essential piece of the individual’s treatment process and begins at the time of admission. Typically, individuals are linked up with follow- up services, including, but not limited to: individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, partial hospitalization program, and medication management.
