Group Therapy & Court-Related Programs

At Synergy Behavioral Health, our groups are more than just meetings—they are communities of change. We are committed to creating spaces where participants feel supported while also being challenged to take responsibility for their actions and build a healthier future knowing we are Better Together

We believe that real change happens when people are given both accountability and support. Our group programs provide a structured, collaborative space where participants can reflect on their choices, learn new skills, and build healthier lives. Each group is facilitated by experienced clinicians who guide participants through evidence-based practices that encourage honesty, self-awareness, and growth.

Why Groups Work

Group therapy is uniquely powerful because it combines professional guidance with peer learning. In a group setting, participants:

  • Gain Perspective – Hearing from others who are facing similar challenges helps reduce isolation and builds a sense of community.
  • Practice New Skills – Groups provide a safe environment to practice communication, accountability, and problem-solving skills with immediate feedback.
  • Increase Accountability – Group members hold one another to higher standards by encouraging honesty, consistency, and follow-through.
  • Build Motivation – Seeing peers make progress can inspire participants to stay engaged and committed to their own growth.
  • Encourage Empathy – Listening to the experiences of others helps participants better understand the impact of their choices on themselves, their families, and their communities.

Men’s Group

Our Men’s Group creates a safe and respectful space for men to explore the challenges they face in relationships, family, work, and community life. Through guided discussion and skill-building, participants learn tools for emotional regulation, stress management, and healthy communication. This group provides a space where men can connect with other men while fostering personal growth and stronger, more positive connections.

SAFE Steps (Men’s & Women’s Groups)

SAFE Steps is our BISC-MI approved domestic violence intervention program, offered in gender-specific groups to address the unique needs of both men and women. This program is rooted in trauma-informed and evidence-based practices, focusing on accountability, empathy, and healthy relationship skills. Participants explore the impact of abusive or violent behaviors, learn to identify harmful patterns, and develop alternatives that support safety and respect in all relationships. SAFE stands for Safety and Accountability for Everyone—and these groups are designed to uphold those values.

Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT)

MRT is a nationally recognized cognitive-behavioral program shown to reduce recidivism and promote long-term change. At Synergy, we offer MRT groups for individuals with co-occurring disorders, economic crimes, or other court-related concerns. Participants work through a series of structured steps that address moral reasoning, decision-making, and personal responsibility. By progressing through the MRT model, individuals strengthen their sense of accountability and gain practical tools to make healthier choices for the future.
