Starting therapy takes courage. It can be difficult to connect to someone you do not know (even people you do know!). Rachel takes the therapeutic relationship seriously and works to build an alliance with her clients. She does this by creating a comfortable environment where she is authentically herself. Rachel finds if she can be authentic, it allows her clients to feel that they can do the same. This is where growth happens when you learn it is okay to be authentically you. Her therapy mantra is “You can do hard things” because even when people are struggling, they are capable of more than they realize. It is her goal to help you see this, feel empowered, validated, and give you a safe place to process these “hard things”. She is committed to helping her clients reach their goals and provide the resources and tools necessary to get them there.
Rachel graduated with a master’s in social work from Grand Valley State University and has experience working with various populations in both individual and group therapy. She is passionate about teaching individuals (and couples) how to treat themselves (and each other) with patience and understanding. She has an eclectic approach to therapy, as every individual you meet is different, we need to find what works best for each client. She does find value in using Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness and self-compassion throughout her practice. Rachel enjoys working with teens, adults, and couples. She believes that everyone should be treated with dignity and respect regardless of race, ethnicity, background, sexual orientation, or gender identity. Rachel looks forward to meeting you and walking alongside you in your therapeutic journey. Remember, YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS.
