Jessica is passionate about sitting with others and uncovering their unique stories, strengths, and life concerns. With a background in Public and Nonprofit Administration from Grand Valley State University and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Cornerstone University, she brings a strong foundation in both human services and clinical care. Her experience spans a variety of settings, including time in equine-assisted environments, which deeply shaped her understanding of connection and presence in healing.
Jess especially enjoys working with teens and adults who are navigating life transitions, relational challenges, stress, or simply seeking a deeper understanding of themselves. Her areas of focus include depression, anxiety, grief and loss, postpartum depression, infertility, OCD, and major life transitions. She works primarily with individuals, offering a personalized, compassionate, and client-centered approach. Jess believes in the importance of creating a space where people feel seen, heard, and safe to explore what it means to be human. As Fred Rogers once said, “Anything human is mentionable, and anything mentionable can be more manageable.” She strives to be someone who helps others feel less alone in whatever they are carrying. If desired, she is also happy to incorporate a Christian perspective into the counseling process.
When beginning work with a new client, Jess takes the time to understand the individual’s story, concerns, and hopes for the future. Together, they develop meaningful goals and move toward them at a pace that feels right for the client. She views counseling as a collaborative process, offering encouragement, insight, and practical tools to help individuals navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence and clarity. Jess welcomes individuals from all walks of life and is committed to creating an inclusive and safe space for people of all backgrounds, identities, and beliefs.
