Todd Monroe, LMSW

With over three decades of experience, Todd Monroe specializes in meeting people in moments of crisis and recovering a sense of peace and direction in life. Symptoms treated tend to include, anxiety, depression, relational conflict, challenging relationships in family systems, life transitions and grief and loss. Todd offers a collaborative approach to therapy which employs thoughts and strategies from several models of care, including Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral, Narrative Therapy, Marital Intensive Therapy and Psychoanalytic approaches. Growing up in the dune side community of Norton Shores, Todd left for Georgia for undergraduate school, only to return to West Michigan. From 2000-2006 Todd worked for the State in Michigan in Family Services, Foster Home Licensing and Training and Pastoral Care.

Since graduating from Grand Valley State University graduate school in 2006, his therapy career has taken him in many directions including; Psychiatric in-patient Supervision, Congregational Care and finally landing full-time on outpatient Psychotherapy in 2010. Monroe says “When you have the privilege of working with people, a career can take you in many interesting directions”. It is clear that all of these directions have brought a lot to the therapy space. Patients of Todd Monroe experience a warm and safe environment to be challenged and to grow. Says Monroe, “It’s a sacred invitation, to be in the presence of people in their times of need.”He specializes in individual treatment for people aged 16 and up, focusing on all general concerns, from anxiety, behavioral challenges, interpersonal struggles, grief and loss, marriage discord, family therapy, grief and loss, life transitions, sexual dysfunction, bi-polar and other pervasive mental illness and depression.

Todd is a father of two adult daughters. When he is not doing “dad things” of therapy activities, he can be found on the golf course with his friends or in his recording studio preparing a new musical release. Other passions include time in nature (particularly in the dunes), visiting and exploring new cities and regions, watching Detroit Lions football and cooking.
